MANILA – Weather conditions across the Philippines on Sunday will be shaped by easterlies and a frontal system, bringing clouds and rain in several areas.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Caraga, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to moist easterly winds.

Possible flooding or landslides may occur in these areas as the rains could become heavy at times.

Batanes will also see cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to a frontal system—formed when warm and cold air masses interact, resulting in unstable weather patterns.

Metro Manila and other areas nationwide will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also linked to the easterlies.

Winds will remain light to moderate, with slight to moderate seas expected. The heat index may reach up to 35.5°C during the afternoon.
