STA. MARIA, Bulacan — Thousands of tricycle operators and drivers association (TODA) members in this town have received financial assistance through a multi-day payout organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The distribution was conducted in three batches over consecutive days to accommodate the large number of beneficiaries. More than 7,000 TODA members were given cash relief amounting to PHP 5,000 each.

DSWD Region 3 Director Venus Rebuldera personally visited the payout site to oversee operations and ensure the smooth flow of distribution.

Sixth District Representative Salvador “Ador” Pleyto said the initiative aims to ease the burden on drivers affected by rising fuel costs, particularly amid global oil price increases linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. He noted that the financial aid could help offset expenses for gasoline and other petroleum products.

Pleyto also emphasized that strict verification measures were implemented during the payout. Beneficiaries were required to present valid identification, along with proper documentation such as signatures and photographs, to ensure that only qualified recipients received assistance.

According to organizers, the distribution was carried out in an orderly and systematic manner, with beneficiaries scheduled in batches to avoid overcrowding. They also stressed that the effort was focused on delivering aid efficiently rather than serving as a large public gathering.

Local officials described the assistance as a significant form of support for TODA members in Sta. Maria, many of whom continue to face challenges due to increasing fuel prices.
