BULACAN — Needy families need not only financial assistance but also opportunities to start their own livelihood, Congressman Salvador Aquino Pleyto said as he presented a livelihood program for women in District 6 in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Under the program, groups of female beneficiaries were allowed to choose the type of livelihood they wanted to pursue based on their skills, interests, and the needs of their communities.
Among the selected projects were rice milling, bakery, and sewing ventures, which are intended to provide continuous sources of income rather than short-term assistance.
The program aims to help beneficiaries become productive, generate income, and gradually become more self-reliant in meeting their families’ daily needs.
In partnership with DOLE, the initiative also seeks to strengthen the beneficiaries’ ability to manage their livelihood projects and make them more sustainable.
For Pleyto, genuine public service does not end with the distribution of aid. Assistance becomes more meaningful when it helps families establish their own sources of income and build a more stable future.
With every rice mill opened, bakery started, and sewing machine put to use, new opportunities emerge for women in District 6.
The program is not only about income but also about providing dignity, opportunity and the means for beneficiaries to improve their lives through their own efforts.
Through continued cooperation among local leaders, government agencies and beneficiaries, more women are being given opportunities to establish livelihoods and contribute to the needs of their families.
One program, many opportunities—and another step toward a more stable future for families in District 6.
