Camp General Alejo S. Santos, Malolos City, Bulacan – Two suspects were apprehended in connection with the March 8 shooting that killed PMSg Jose Dela Peña Uring and wounded a civilian in Guiguinto, Bulacan, authorities confirmed.

The arrested individuals were identified as @ADONIS, allegedly the driver and accomplice of the gunman, who was arrested in Brgy. Maysantol, Bulakan, Bulacan around 6:00 p.m. on March 10, and @MARVIN, the alleged gunman and a dismissed police officer, who was taken into custody in Brgy. Panghulo, Obando, Bulacan around 7:00 p.m. the same day.

According to PLTCOL Librado C. Manarang, Chief of Police of the Guiguinto Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at approximately 9:57 p.m. during a caucus for the election of officers of the Homeowners Association at Brooklyn Heights Subdivision, Brgy. Panginay.

“As the victim, PMSg Jose Uring y Dela Peña, was walking towards the mobile sound system tent, the suspect approached him from behind and shot him in the head,” Manarang said. “Amidst the commotion, the suspect fired again while fleeing, hitting the left knee of a civilian identified as @Lyn.”

Both victims were immediately rushed to Guiguinto Polymedic Hospital, where PMSg Uring was declared dead on arrival. The wounded civilian remains under treatment.

A joint operation led by the Guiguinto MPS, in coordination with the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit and several other police units, was launched following the shooting. The operation involved personnel from PIDMU, Bulakan MPS, Obando MPS, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, PECU Bulacan, RSOG3, and RIU3, resulting in the successful arrest of the two suspects.

During the arrest of Adonis, authorities confiscated one grenade, a black Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, a red EVO helmet, a blue long-sleeved shirt, navy blue jogging pants, an Oppo Android cellphone, and two iPhone 6S units.

Meanwhile, Marvin was found in possession of a Bajaj motorcycle registered to C-Fuel Catangalan TODA; a backpack containing three firearms – a Remington 1911 .45 caliber pistol, a Caspian .45 caliber pistol, and a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol; 150 rounds of ammunition; multiple magazines; a black leather inside holster; clothes believed used in the crime; identification cards; and a Samsung Galaxy A12 cellphone.

The suspects are now in the custody of the Guiguinto MPS, while preparations are underway to file charges of Murder and Frustrated Homicide at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Malolos City.

PCOL Angel L. Garcillano, Provincial Director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, commended the coordinated effort: “The quick arrest of the suspects is the result of good coordination and cooperation among the various police units. The Bulacan police will remain steadfast in pursuing criminals to ensure justice for the victims and maintain peace and order in the province.”
