MALOLOS, Bulacan — Malolos City Mayor Christian Natividad on Thursday expressed strong support for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) affected by ongoing conflicts in parts of the Middle East and Europe, assuring families that the city government is ready to extend assistance.

Natividad said the local government continues to monitor the situation of Filipino workers abroad and is prepared to help families who are worried about relatives caught in areas experiencing unrest.

The mayor noted that the city government can provide support through various programs, including financial assistance for families seeking help while awaiting updates about their loved ones overseas.

He added that his office is willing to personally assist residents who need immediate aid and will coordinate with national government agencies to ensure the safety and possible repatriation of affected OFWs.

Families seeking assistance may send a formal letter to the mayor’s office as part of the requirements for the request, he said.

Once the request is received, the city government will coordinate with the Department of Migrant Workers, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant agencies responsible for assisting Filipinos abroad.

Natividad emphasized that the national government maintains centralized offices tasked with handling cases involving OFWs to ensure that concerns are addressed quickly and in an organized manner.

The mayor also called for unity and vigilance as global tensions continue to affect many communities, including Filipino workers overseas.

He urged residents to remain hopeful and to continue praying for peace and safety for all Filipinos abroad.
