CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan joined the nationwide observance of National Flag Day through a flag-raising ceremony held at the Bulacan Capitol Grounds on May 28, highlighting the province’s historic role in the Philippine Revolution.
Anchored on the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan,” the ceremony was led by Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial Administrator Antonia V. Constantino, and various department heads and employees of the provincial government.
In his message, Fernando stressed that the occasion goes beyond honoring the national symbol, serving instead as a reminder of the courage that has long defined the identity of Bulakenyos since the country’s fight for independence began.

National Flag Day is observed annually to commemorate the first unfurling of the Philippine flag in 1898 following the Filipino revolutionary victory at the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite.
