Every election, the same complaint from the public is repeated over and over again — voters who suddenly appear on the list of a barangay even though they don’t actually live there. Many call this: “flying voters.” A type of illegal registration that has long been a stain on the country’s electoral system.

It is sad to think that while ordinary citizens are struggling to earn a decent living, some are using money and influence to manipulate people’s votes. There are reports of voters being transferred by barangay or city in exchange for money, aid, or favors from politicians. The result? The real voice of the resident is being silenced.

Captain Adora R. Ong of Barangay 271, Zone 25, District 3, Manila, went to the CCW or CITIZEN CRIME WATCH office led by Mr. Jigs Magpantay to ask for help in the brutal registration of their barangay.

According to Captain Ong, more than 200 people registered or registered without going through her office. And it was also found out that they were not legitimate residents of Barangay 271, Zone 25.

The CCW immediately took action, and the entire team upon investigation, the CCW discovered that those who registered did not have homes but were directed to a warehouse, and more than 40 people gave that address in the small warehouse. How could 40 people fit in?

Wait, what is that ghost that can’t sleep? Also, their TIN IDs are almost the only fact that is fake.
If it is proven that more than 200 people registered, according to me, they were tricked and paid 300 to register in this barangay. You will face many cases.

Meanwhile, Captain Ong filed a personal complaint with the Comelec regarding these Flying Voters.

The CCW also took immediate action and wrote to the Comelec to provide a corresponding answer to this incident and the CCW will not stop to hold accountable to the law those behind this Registration to be used in the upcoming barangay elections.
You fools, you are the ones who are wrong. You continue to smear, and one of those you ordered to register even sang that I have 300 ha ha ha.

The effect of this is no joke. When the list is filled with “flying voters”, the entire democratic process is poisoned. What should have been a fair fight becomes a dirty contest of influence and fraud. A true resident who pays taxes and experiences problems in the community loses the power to choose the right leader.

Under Philippine law, registering in an area where you do not actually live is prohibited. This can be an election offense under the rules of the Commission on Elections. But despite this, it seems that some are still abusive because they know that it is difficult to prove and sometimes there is protection from powerful personalities.

It is painful to think that elections that should be a symbol of hope are becoming a center of deceit and influence-buying. While there are young people who dream of change, there are traditional politicians who continue to use the old system to stay in power.

The fight against “flying voters” is not just the job of the government or the COMELEC. It is also the responsibility of the people. If you know of suspicious registration, you should report it. Silence is like consenting to fraud.

If we want to have clean elections, it must start with honest voters. Because in the end, the biggest loser in a dirty election is not the candidate who loses, but the Filipino people themselves.
