QUEZON CITY — In a bid to enhance healthcare access in remote areas, the PCSO is sending the REMEX KA6 portable AI X-ray system to Batanes. Tested by NASA for space missions, the device emerged as a top performer due to its accuracy and reliability under extreme conditions.

Weighing just 3.5 kilograms and powered by batteries, the compact X-ray machine allows medical teams to perform screenings in hard-to-reach locations on Basco and Sabtang. Its AI technology can instantly identify Tuberculosis and other chest-related ailments, including pneumonia, lung masses, pleural effusion, and fractures, enabling immediate treatment decisions.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said, “This mission is aligned with President Marcos’ vision of bringing cutting-edge technology to the people. Together with private partners, we are ensuring precise and safe diagnostics in even the most distant communities.”

The initiative represents a major leap in bringing modern, low-radiation medical technology to the Philippines’ farthest islands, bridging healthcare gaps for underserved populations. (el amigo)
