SAN JOSE DEL MONTE CITY, Bulacan — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Education Secretary Sonny Angara on Thursday (Feb. 19) led the oath-taking of 1,991 newly promoted public school teachers and school leaders from Bulacan and Pampanga at the city’s sports complex, underscoring the government’s push to strengthen career development in the education sector.
The mass oath-taking covered personnel promoted and reclassified under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) system, a reform initiative anchored on Republic Act No. 12288, or the Career Progression for Public School Teachers and School Leaders Act of 2025. The law seeks to improve professional mobility while recognizing the contributions of educators to the country’s basic education system.
Those sworn in included teachers advancing from Teacher II up to Teacher VII and Master Teacher I to Master Teacher III, as well as school heads promoted from Principal I to Principal IV.
Data presented during the ceremony showed that Central Luzon remains among the regions with the highest number of newly promoted education personnel. Bulacan recorded 408 promotions, followed by Pampanga with 368. Other school divisions included Mabalacat City (301), Angeles City (238), City of San Fernando (233), Meycauayan City (128), San Jose del Monte City (145), Malolos City (90), and Baliwag City (80).
Also present during the event were local officials, including Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando, Vice Governor Alex Castro, San Jose del Monte Mayor Florida Robes, Meycauayan Mayor Henry Villarica, Pampanga 2nd District Representative and former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Bulacan 4th District Representative Arthur Robes, and Bulacan 6th District Representative Salvador Aquino Pleyto, along with Department of Education officials and teachers.
In his remarks, Marcos reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting educators through policies that enhance career growth, professional development, and overall welfare, describing teachers as key partners in nation-building. /iamigo
